Our Plan

We’re laying the groundwork for a new open-web ecosystem in Europe. Early components are already in development; these will grow into a comprehensive platform that enables a wide range of social and web applications. Our approach focuses on two areas: building essential platform services for developers, and supporting the next generation of startups that will use them.

1. Platform Services

Eurosky is developing a suite of platform services that will make it dramatically easier to build on open social protocols such as ATProto. These services are designed to simplify the hardest parts of launching and scaling modern applications - from identity and compliance to storage, monetisation and payments.

Our platform services will include:

Identity & Account Services

We will build on ATProto’s portable identity system (DIDs), adding features such as verification, secure account recovery, and optional enhancements that make identity more robust across applications.

Compliance Enablement Services

Modern apps need to meet European legal requirements from day one. We are developing technology solutions that help services implement DSA and other regulatory obligations more easily — including transparency tooling, country-specific access controls, and mechanisms to support notice-and-action. This includes our modular moderation platform, CoCoMo.

Data Hosting & Portability Services

Reliable European hosting for posts, media and social graph data, designed to preserve portability between providers and ensure that users never lose their connections or content.

Privacy-Safe Monetisation Services

Contextual, privacy-respecting monetisation options that allow services to generate revenue without tracking individuals or building behavioural profiles.

Payments & Revenue Services

Integrated tools for subscriptions, tipping, purchases and payouts - making it simple for startups to earn revenue across the open social web.

Together, these services form a flexible foundation on which a wide variety of new applications can be built. As the ecosystem develops, they will enable a whole new class of products that currently depend on closed platforms.

2. Startup Incubation and Support

Alongside platform services, Eurosky will support the creation of new European ventures that take full advantage of open standards and interoperable identities. We will work with founders and product teams to develop applications that can thrive in an open ecosystem.

Areas of focus will include:

• News and information services: from new forms of personalised news experiences to collaborative curation tools.

• Music and entertainment platforms:  social listening, creator communities, distribution tools and other formats that benefit from open identity and portable social graphs.

• Professional networks and productivity tools:  work-focused social applications, expertise discovery, and new formats for professional collaboration.

• Social and community applications: new approaches to messaging, sharing, local and niche communities and real-time interaction.

• Consumer web services: marketplaces, reviews, cultural platforms and other products that gain value from interoperability and user-controlled data.
  

By pairing Eurosky’s platform services with targeted incubation support, we aim to accelerate a new generation of European companies that are natively open, scalable and globally competitive.
